Born in Fargo, ND
Lives & works in Edison, WA
I have painted and drawn just about all of my life. I started drawing as a child and did my first oil paintings at the age of 15. I moved from Fargo, N.Dak to Seattle, WA and attended the University Of Washington Art School, graduating in 1976 with a BFA in painting. I had the good fortune to study with Bob Jones, Alden Mason, Norman Lundin, and an independent year with Jacob Lawrence. I also studied with Elaine deKooning through the Centrum Program in 1978. I now live in the Skagit Valley where I have become a full time artist and the ever-changing light and open vistas have inspired a return to working from my surroundings. The tides, bays, pilings, decayed structures, and the forces of weather and time shape my work as much as the solitude and silence I enjoy here. I also operate the i.e. gallery in Edison Washington.
